Heavy, hard and strong wood, White Birch is the sapwood of Yellow Birch. It is straight-grained with a fine uniform texture and light-brown to white.

Soft Maple sapwood is greyish white sometimes with darker pith flecks. Heartwood varies from light to dark reddish brown and is straight-grained.
