Celebrating Milestones: Salvador Gonzalez Retires After 45 Years!

Salvador Gonzalez has retired from Decore-ative Specialties after 45 years of dedicated service!

Salvador started on January 9th, 1980, at our South El Monte location, which he remembers as being a much smaller operation at the time. Throughout the years at our Irwindale, CA facility, he worked in many areas, including shipping, wrapping, inspection, and hand sanding. When asked which role he enjoyed most, Salvador said he enjoyed them all.

What stood out most to him during his career were the people he worked with. “I can’t say I had a favorite supervisor or manager—I really enjoyed working with everyone,” he shared. “I’m really going to miss all the people here and everyone I worked with. It’s only been a few weeks, and I still think about everyone here all the time.” Salvador enjoyed lighthearted moments with coworkers, including times of joking and laughing together.

In retirement, Salvador plans to travel back and forth between California and Zacatecas, Mexico. He says he has not given much thought to what else he will be doing in the meantime, but he is just enjoying the days as they come.
