Aspiring Woodworkers Compete at the 2017 SkillsUSA

On April 22nd, several California high school students participated in the 2017 SkillsUSA Cabinetmaking & Introductory Woodworking Championship at the Town & Country Resort, San Diego, CA. Many of the volunteers and judges were from the Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers (AWFS). A total of 19 Students from 10 different schools competed to represent California at the SkillsUSA National Championship.

Decore-ative Specialties proudly sponsors this event each year by donating sample doors, drawer fronts, and promotional products. In addition, several other woodworking suppliers provided tools, supplies, and giveaways for the participants. Students had nine hours over the two-day competition to complete their project. The winners advance to the National competition in July. SkillsUSA is a national career and technical organization focused on job readiness for skilled trades.
